Mailbox Monday October 15
It's time for another Mailbox Monday post. This month's host is Marcia at Mailbox Monday.
Just a quick post this morning. It's back to work for me today. The weekend was nice and relaxing. I managed to get a book read. Stayed tuned for some reviews this week.
I got this book for review as a surprise awhile back but somehow I overlooked it when I posted my MM.
Yes, Chef; A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson (courtesy of Random House)
The next three books are purchases I made. One was on a trip to Barnes and Noble. It's been a very long time since I went to the bookstore and I was shocked to see how much it had changed. It was more of a toy store. I also noticed how few employees were there. It made me sad. Our bookstore used to be a bustling place. Not so much the night I was there. I was looking for a copy of Blackberry Winter but they didn't have one copy. I had to go home and order one. I really wanted to support my local bookstore but sadly, it didn't work out that way. I did buy the Ray Bradbury book and some sketchbooks for my daughter.
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio
Have you read any of these books? If so how did you like them?

I think the Chef book sounds great and I love Jio and sure you will enjoy this one. Our B&N has shrunk in size inventory wise. It's all very sad to me too!
ReplyDeleteThese all look great! Rebecca has been on my shelf for years; I've been meaning to get to it... Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteOh the chef memoir sounds dishy (LOL). I hope it is a good read!
ReplyDeleteBlackberry Winter sounds so good. I LOVE Rebecca. ENJOY all your books.

Rebecca is a favorite of mine, I hope you love it too. And I'm sure you'll enjoy the Bradbury book, it's a classic. Haven't read Blackberry Winter yet but I want to.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed too that the stores are carrying less and less inventory and have fewer employees. Sometimes it's a real effort to find someone, anyone, that works there and can answer a question!
I haven't read any but hope to read Blackberry Winter soon. Yes, Chef appeals to me too.
ReplyDeleteI have Rebecca on my stacks (for a reread); and I have Blackberry Winter, which I hope to read really soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Rebecca is fabulous! Blackberry Winter has gotten some wonderful reviews. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
ReplyDeleteWhat a very varied selection of genres you have this week, you certainly have plenty to choose from, no matter what your mood!
'Rebecca' has always been one of my firm favourites and I have watched several television films and adaptations of the story. It stands the test of time IMHO and I am sure will be elevated to 'classic' status in time!
'Blackberry Winter' is already on my reading list, as another blogger posted a review of it this week and had nothing but nice things to say about it.
I hope that you enjoy all of your books and don't work too hard!!

Can't go wrong with Rebecca - awesome story.
ReplyDeleteI've been really wanting to read Yes, Chef. I really liked Marcus Samuelsson when he was on Top Chef Masters, and I think I'd really enjoy his book.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read Rebecca for the longest time. Enjoy your work week and your new books!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute mailbox pic! Good book picks.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading. :-)
