Mailbox Monday February 20
It's Monday again! Happy President's Day! There is school here today so we are up and having a regular day.
I was thrilled with Downton Abbey last night. Some story lines seem to be heading in the direction I was hoping they would go. I don't want to say too much in case you are a fan and haven't seen the episode yet. I hope we don't have to wait too long for season three.
On to the mailbox! This month Mailbox Monday is being hosted by Metroreader: Reading One Mile At A Time.
I received two books in my actual mailbox this week. I received one for a TLC Book Tour and Harper Collins was kind enough to stick the newest addition to the series in the with my tour book. That was a wonderful surprise since this is a series I hear so many great things about!
Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear
Elegy For Eddie: A Maisie Dobbs Novel by Jacqueline Winspear
I made a run to the hardware store this weekend and since the library was having a book sale and was across the street, I had to stop by. I was hugely disappointed with this sale. It was mostly old library books for sale. I mean old books that everyone read a million years ago! I heard many comments that led me to believe I wasn't the only disappointed person there. I did find a few books that looked interesting and a couple of donated romances for my mom. I really didn't need any more book anyway but I always enjoy bumping elbows with other readers looking for that one book you have to have! I only spent $3.50.
Dream Mender by Sherryl Woods
Tea and Destiny by Sherryl Woods
A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg
Marshmallows For Breakfast by Dorothy Koomson
My Pride and Joy by George Adamson
So that is what books came into my home. What wonderful reads made their way into your home?

I'm beyond jealous you have Elegy for Eddie. I'm waiting with on the edge of my seat for that one. You have lots of good reading ahead. Enjoy.

I love book sales and it's always nice when you find something you wasn't expecting. I found this quaint little shop in Portland the other week called Murder By The Book. Great little new/used shop with mystery type books only. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Portland and spend some more time there.
ReplyDeleteI loved Downton Abbey last night as well! I am going to miss it and can't wait for the next season...hope we don't have to wait a year! I have not read the Maisie Dobbs series yet. I have the first one on my TBR shelf waiting to be read. I don't go to the library sales much anymore as I have so many of my own books to read:)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy Maisie Dobbs. I thought it was very well done and mean to continue with the series (hopefully soon).
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing the Winspeare books in a lot of mailboxes today.
ReplyDeleteI'm practically in mourning now that DA is over until the next season.
I like library book sales too! But it is disappointing if you walk out without having found that one book you've always wanted to read and there it was.
ReplyDeleteWe had school today too. Love those book sales. I just discovered Downtown Abby. I Know! I now have to go back and see if I can watch what I missed on netflix.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the library sales. My library usually just has older books, too. :P
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books!! :)
I picked up Marshmallows for Breakfast at a charity shop a few months ago, but still haven't got round to reading it. It looks good though. Enjoy your books :-)
ReplyDeleteI feel like I need to be watching Downton Abbey, everyone seems to love it! I wish it was a summer show when I have more time to watch...I guess that's what DVD is for!
ReplyDeleteI've got the Maisie Dobbs book on my shelf and will probably read it in a few weeks. It's been sitting there far too long.
ReplyDeleteLots of mailboxes had the Winspear books last week. Great finds at the library sale! I'll miss DA - I wonder when season 3 will begin.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat those Library Book Sales. Enjoy your new book loot Beth.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those Sherryl Woods books are huge! Enjoy all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteI am lovin the Winspear covers!
ReplyDeleteSome good looking books, and I love a library book sale! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe last library sale I went to was the same thing, ancient old worn out library books! They must all clean their shelves at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few blogs getting Maise Dobbs books this week. I read my first Maise book last year and now I want to read a few older ones so I can get more background.
I'm very ashamed, but I have yet to see Downtown Abbey. I wonder if I can get the episodes on Hulu to catch up? I also haven't read any of the Maisie Dobbs stories, but I've heard that they are fabulous! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Maise Dobbs one of these days. I hope you like Redbird Christmas. It's one of my favorite books.
ReplyDeleteI got the Winspear books too. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm missing something by not watching Downton Abbey. Everyone is raving about it!
You're so lucky to get a copy of My Pride and Joy! I'd loveto own a copy but sine they're out of print they're hard to find.
